# Terms of service

Last updated: 29 October 2026

## 1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and FusedFrames Technologies Ltd (“we”, “us”), which makes and operates Check Twice. They apply when you use the Check Twice app and our website. Our [Privacy policy](https://www.check-twice.com/legal/privacy) and [Biometric policy](https://www.check-twice.com/legal/biometric) explain how we use your data and are not part of these terms.

**If you live in the US, these terms include binding individual arbitration and a class action waiver, which you can opt out of within 30 days. See section 13.**

You agree to these terms by tapping Continue on the phone number page when you sign up or sign in, where they are linked. We keep a record of the version you agreed to and will send you a copy if you ask. You can read, save or print the current version here at any time, and check and correct what you enter before you continue. These terms are in English.

## 2. Who can use Check Twice

Check Twice is offered only in the UK and the US. You can use it if you:

- are 18 or over and able to enter into a legally binding contract;
- have a UK or US mobile phone number and a valid photo ID issued by the UK or the US that Check Twice accepts;
- use the Check Twice app from the App Store or Google Play on a phone that hasn’t been modified;
- verify as yourself, with your own face, photo ID and phone numbers;
- have only one account; and
- are not barred from using it under any law that applies to you.

## 3. Your account

Your account is yours alone: don’t share, sell or transfer it. Keep your phones and phone numbers secure, keep your phone numbers up to date and remove any you no longer use. If you think someone else has used your account, tell us straight away at [security@fusedframes.com](mailto:security@fusedframes.com).

If someone else proves they hold a phone number on your account and you don’t keep it within 30 days, we may remove it from your account.

By signing up, you agree that we may send you texts and notifications about your account, such as sign-in codes. Any charges from your phone provider for data or texts are yours.

## 4. What Check Twice does

Check Twice checks that a person is real, matches a genuine photo ID in their name and is the same person later. “Verified” means a person passed our checks at the time shown. It doesn’t mean that whoever is contacting you now is that person, or that they are honest or safe to deal with.

No check is perfect. Someone may pass our checks who isn’t who they claim to be, and a genuine person may fail them. A result is evidence to help you decide, not a guarantee: you decide whom to trust and what to do. A result counts only as shown in the Check Twice app, so don’t rely on a screenshot, message or website that claims to show one.

Check Twice is not a certified digital identity service. Don’t use it where the law requires an identity or age check, such as money laundering, right to work or right to rent checks, or to decide whether someone can have housing, a job, credit or insurance.

## 5. Using Check Twice properly

You must not:

- pretend to be another person or an organisation, or use a forged or altered document or another person’s face, photo ID or phone number;
- use Check Twice to deceive, defraud, harass, threaten or harm anyone, or for a terrorist or other proscribed organisation;
- add anything illegal, or anything offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or abusive, to a link, invite code or report;
- make false reports;
- copy, keep or share another person’s name, face photo or other details from Check Twice, or use them for anything other than deciding whether to trust that person;
- copy, change, reverse engineer or interfere with Check Twice, or bypass its security or limits, except as the law or the licence of open-source software in Check Twice allows;
- access Check Twice by automated means; or
- sell or offer Check Twice, or results from it, to anyone else, or use it in any way that breaks the law.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

## 6. What you add

You own what you add to Check Twice, such as a link’s name and notes, your invite code, your reports and your feedback. You give us permission to store, process and show it as needed to run Check Twice, and to use your feedback and ideas without paying you. Only add what is true and what you have the right to share.

We don’t check everything users add before others see it, and we aren’t responsible for it. An automated filter checks link names, notes and invite codes as they are added and blocks offensive content. We may change or remove anything that breaks these terms, including an invite code that is offensive, misleading or uses someone else’s name or brand.

## 7. Illegal content, reports and complaints

We remove illegal content as soon as we become aware of it, including from a report:

- **Terrorism content:** we remove it and close any account used for a terrorist or other proscribed organisation.
- **Child sexual exploitation and abuse content:** we remove it, close the account responsible and report it to the authorities.
- **Other illegal content:** we remove it and may suspend or close the account responsible.

If you report an intimate image of you shared without your consent, or someone reports it for you, we take it down, with any copies, as soon as we can and within 48 hours.

You can report a contact or a link in the app, or tell us about anything illegal or harmful through our [contact form](https://www.check-twice.com/contact). We review every report and don’t tell the person reported who made it, unless the law requires it.

To complain about anything, including illegal content, how we handled a report, our automated filter or a decision to remove your content or to restrict or close your account, use our contact form or email [legal@fusedframes.com](mailto:legal@fusedframes.com). We acknowledge every complaint, tell you how long it should take and deal with it promptly, complaints about intimate images first. If we got a decision wrong, we put it right, including restoring your content or account.

## 8. Suspending or closing accounts

We may suspend or close your account, or limit what you can do, straight away if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse or if the law requires it. We will tell you, and explain why if you ask, unless the law or someone’s safety prevents it. We may also close your account for any other reason by telling you at least 30 days in advance. If you think we got it wrong, contact us and a person will review it. We may refuse a new account to someone whose account we suspended or closed for breaking these terms.

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account, then your name, then Delete account, under Leave) or at [check-twice.com/delete](https://www.check-twice.com/delete). If you can’t take a quick photo, email [support@fusedframes.com](mailto:support@fusedframes.com) and we will delete your account once we have confirmed it’s you.

## 9. Our app and its changes

Check Twice is free. If we ever charge for anything, we will tell you first and you won’t pay unless you agree. We own Check Twice and give you a personal, non-transferable right to use it under these terms.

We don’t promise that Check Twice will always be available or free of errors, and versions we label as a beta may have more of them. We may change, suspend or stop any part of it for a valid reason, such as security, a change in the law or improving Check Twice. If we stop Check Twice altogether, we will tell you in advance.

## 10. Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, loss to a business or loss caused by events outside our reasonable control.

Where we used reasonable care and skill, we are not responsible for:

- what other people do, on or off Check Twice, including anyone who deceives you after passing our checks;
- any decision you make based on a result; or
- anyone using your phone or phone numbers without your permission.

Any dispute between you and another user is between you and them. Our total liability to you is limited to £100, except for claims under data protection law.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.

## 11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when Check Twice or the law changes. We will tell you by text or in the app before any significant change takes effect. If you keep using Check Twice after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.

## 12. Law and disputes

If you live in the UK, these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.

If you live in the US, these terms are governed by the law of the State of Delaware and the Federal Arbitration Act governs the arbitration agreement in section 13. You keep any protection your state’s law gives you that can’t be excluded.

## 13. If you live in the US

This section applies if you live in the United States, to the extent your state’s law allows. Where it differs from the rest of these terms, this section applies.

**Check Twice is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.**

**We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability to you for all claims is limited to US$125.**

**You release us from all claims and damages arising out of disputes with other users, except claims arising from our own breach of these terms, negligence or fraud. If you live in California, you waive California Civil Code section 1542, which says: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party.”**

If a claim is brought against us because you broke these terms or the law, you will cover our reasonable losses and costs from it.

We are not a consumer reporting agency, and a result is not a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or STOP to stop our texts, which also stops sign-in codes until you reply START.

### Arbitration and class action waiver

**Please read this carefully. It means disputes between you and us are decided by an arbitrator, not a judge or jury, and that you can’t bring or join a class action.**

- **Try to resolve it first.** Before either of us starts arbitration, we try to resolve the dispute for 60 days. You start this by emailing [legal@fusedframes.com](mailto:legal@fusedframes.com) with your name, the phone number on your account, what the dispute is about and what you want. We start it by contacting you by text or in the app. Time limits for bringing a claim are paused for those 60 days.
- **Binding arbitration.** Any dispute between you and us about these terms or Check Twice will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this agreement. The arbitrator can award the same individual relief a court could. The hearing will be by video, by phone, on written submissions or in the county where you live, and fees are paid as those rules set out.
- **Exceptions.** Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead. Either of us may ask a court to stop the misuse of Check Twice or of intellectual property. A request for public injunctive relief is decided by a court after the individual arbitration.
- **No class actions.** You and we may bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or member in any class, collective or representative action, and both of us give up the right to a jury trial. If this waiver can’t be enforced for a claim, that claim goes to court, not to arbitration.
- **Mass claims.** If 25 or more similar demands are brought by or with the help of the same or coordinated lawyers, the American Arbitration Association’s Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules apply.
- **Opting out.** You can opt out of this agreement within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms, by emailing [legal@fusedframes.com](mailto:legal@fusedframes.com) with your name and the phone number on your account.
- **Changes.** If we change this agreement, you can reject the change within 30 days by emailing [legal@fusedframes.com](mailto:legal@fusedframes.com), and the version you last agreed to will apply.

## 14. Apple and Google

If you got Check Twice from Apple’s App Store:

- these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the Check Twice app and our content in it;
- your right to use the Check Twice app is limited to Apple devices you own or control, as Apple’s Usage Rules allow;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Check Twice app;
- if the Check Twice app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple’s only obligation is to refund any price you paid for it;
- we, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with any claims about the Check Twice app, including claims of product liability, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, claims under consumer protection or privacy law and claims that it infringes someone else’s intellectual property;
- you confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Apple’s standard licence terms for apps also apply. If they conflict with these terms, these terms apply. If you got Check Twice from Google Play, Google is not responsible for it. You must also follow the terms of the store you used.

## 15. General

- If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We can give you notices in the app or by text. You can give us notice at [legal@fusedframes.com](mailto:legal@fusedframes.com).
- Terms meant to continue after your account ends, such as sections 10, 12 and 13, continue.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation. We will tell you if we do, and it won’t reduce your rights. You may not transfer yours.
- No one else has rights under these terms, except Apple as set out in section 14.
