## Stop impersonation scams

### Ask them to confirm with a quick photo

We check their face against their profile and tell you if it’s them.

### Verify each phone has the same words

If both match you’re speaking to them with no one in the middle.

### Get warned if it’s someone else instead

We warn you if they say it wasn’t them or don’t answer in time.

## Check new numbers and strangers

### Check it’s them after a “lost phone” text

Send a link to the new number and a quick photo on that phone is verified against their profile.

### Check strangers before you trust them

Ask for their Check Twice link and see they’re verified with their ID before you buy, sell or meet them.

## Built to be private by default

### Choose which contacts can see your profile

Only people you’ve saved can see it and you can hide it from any of them.

### We never upload your contacts

Your contacts’ names never leave your phone, and their phone numbers stay private.

### We never sell your data

Not to advertisers or anyone else, not even anonymised. We never use any of it for advertising either.

## Common questions

### How does Check Twice work?

Sign up with a quick photo and your ID. Then ask a contact’s own phone to confirm it’s them with a quick photo and check you have the same two words. After a “lost phone” text, send them a link. You can also check a stranger’s link and share your own with people you’ve never met.

### Is Check Twice free?

Yes. Check Twice is free.

### How does Check Twice make money?

We plan to offer paid features that help organisations stay secure.

### What do I need to get verified?

Your phone number, a quick photo of your face and your UK or US passport, driving licence or state ID card. You need to be 18 or over.

### What happens to my face photo and ID?

We keep your face photo encrypted to check it’s you later and to show on your verified card, unless you hide it. We delete it when you delete your account or after 24 months without using Check Twice. We never keep pictures of your ID or its number.

### Who can see that I’m verified?

Only people in your contacts who also have your phone number, and anyone on Check Twice who opens a link you share. They see your face photo, which you can hide, and your full name as printed on your ID. If you want, you can choose to show it to anyone with your phone number.

### What if they’re not on Check Twice?

Invite them from the app. Once they’re verified, you can check it’s really them whenever they contact you.

### Can someone pretend to be me?

Your name comes from your ID, and every check needs a quick photo that matches yours, so someone using your name or phone number would also need your face to pass one.

### Does Check Twice see my messages or calls?

No. Check Twice can’t see your messages or calls, and never uses your microphone or location.

### Where is Check Twice available?

In the UK and the US, on iPhone and Android phones. Somewhere else? [Ask for your country](https://www.check-twice.com/contact?category=country).
