# Overview

What Check Twice is, and how developers and organisations build with it.

Check Twice’s mission is to end impersonation scams, where someone pretends to be a person or organisation you trust.

It does this by letting people prove who they are. In the Check Twice app they take a quick photo and check their photo ID, reading its chip if it has one. From then on, the people and organisations they deal with can check it’s really them.

## How it works

- **People** prove who they are once, in the app. Their name comes from their ID, never typed.
- **Developers** check the links people share. Someone makes a Check Twice link in the app and gives it to your shop, app or AI agent, and your server checks it with one request to learn who made it.
- **Organisations** tell us of their calls and texts as they happen. When the person they’re contacting is on Check Twice, that person’s phone shows the call or text is really from them.

## Build with Check Twice

- [Organisations](https://www.check-twice.com/docs/phone-systems): Let people know your calls and texts are genuine.
